RYE

Rye (Secale cereale) is a cereal plant of the Poaceae family. It is thought that rye was first grown in southwest Asia in 6500 BC. Rye, which is the most cold-resistant grain, likes high places, sandy and loose soils. Russia is cultivated even in harsh winters such as the Scandinavian countries, and is planted in autumn and harvested in early summer the following year. Moreover, wheat, barley, corn and rice, even in the most inefficient soils that are not suitable for agriculture yields better than other cereals.
